Modern Art in México.
Talk of modern art is talk of an opposition movement; Of a stage of experimentation. Especially in plastic art, modernity came to question and break with all the methods, techniques and themes that monopolized the so-called traditional or classical art.
Although modern art arrived in different years to the differente latitudes of the world, it can be said that the first half of the 20th century is the one that marked a watershed not only in the picturial field, but also architectural, philosophical and literary.
Modern art is directly linked to the famous avant-gardes such as Cubism, Surrelaism, Dadaism and in the case of Mexico, Muralism.

The modern Mexico exhibit. Vanguard and revolution traces the development of the different modernist aesthetic proposals that took place during the first half of the 20th century in Mexico. The tour consist of a set of 170 emblematic pieces by more than 60 artist, including the largest of the period: Dr. Atl, Miguel Covarrubias, Saturnino Herrán, María Izquierdo, Frida Kahlo, Agustín Lazo, Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, Antonio Ruiz “El Corcito”, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Remedios Varo y Ángel Zárraga, among others, many of which are exhited for the first time in our country in an unprecedented exhibition.
The selection of works aims to give an account of the search for an authentic Mexicanity and the way in which avant- garde and revolutionary interests changed the direction of the arts.
